i think i had a dream about this once...

INDIO, CA, April 27, 8:30pm — Coachella has long operated like a music festival is supposed to: the rock stars perform on stage and the Hollywood celebrities watch from a restricted VIP area (equipped with a bar and a shaded lounge ). But that isn’t always the case. As rumored, Scarlett Johansson joined a reunited Jesus and Mary Chain for a performance of “Just Like Honey,” which played as the credits rolled during Ms. Johansson’s film “Lost in Translation.”

I was recently alerted to the following amazing website.
Warning: If you're a font obsessive like myself, you'll get stuck downloading all day long.
How useful this would have been for Liner Notes...
serious delirium

the wu know no season...
springtime might be wu-tang time as well.
eons and at least 37 light years ahead of anyone else in the game, the wu-gambinos have 215 (!) mostly unreleased/rare wu-bangas up on their website. this might be worth skipping finals for. so far i like "i can't go to sleep" live and "the sun".
is this reason to hold out hope for 8 diagrams?

coincidentally, spring time is also new school time.

cyrus's favorite

that was a cute story they told before they [heeding my suggestion] played this one. did you notice that when alan mentioned buring off his child's fingerprints, mimi shot him a death stare? all i can say is that i better get to see the footage shot by the dude obstructing our view.

I love Colin Meloy. I love the Pogues. I love Colin Meloy talking about the Pogues.

inspired by our blog's recent love of all things wareham and new order, as well as those incessant ads for marie antoinette's dvd release, i did a little searching and lo, this gem...

this has been the big album of the spring for me. it's a sweet compilation of stuff from the uk’s c86 movement (rough trade put out a similar comp a couple years back i understand might be even better), and it makes a pretty persuasive case that “jangle” is the best adjective in the english language. there’s a ton of amazing songs, but i think my favorite is this delightful bit of snobbery that’s so good it could mention itself:

Everybody tells me that Keith is hot
Keith needs something what he ain't got
And Keith's gonna die
we get a lot of new indie rock at wmcn. while it's hard to get excited about new things in our 24/7 hype machine world, at least once a semester an unassuming new release arrives that makes me think, "hey, this is kinda good." back in 2003 it was arcade fire's funeral, and this year brings fellow montrealers the besnard lakes aptly titled are the dark horse.

meta-critic confirms my suspicions

mp3: the besnard lakes : disaster
