As you're compiling your summer reading list, don't forget the two scintillating classics of American punk rock oral history:

books i bought today:
the yiddish policemen's union by michael chabon and
suite francaise by irene memirovsky
I LOVE SUMMER AND NON-REQUIRED READING!!
also, if anyone would like to borrow king dork by frank portman (of MTX) or candy girl by diablo cody, i have copies and HIGHLY recommend both.
I totes want to read that new Chabon.
i was just about to post that you should read the yiddish policemen's union until i saw these two comments, which made me very happy. also, dave eggers has a new book- actually, i think it came out a while ago- called what is the what. i suggest you read it.
dave eggers is not my preference, actually. too fucking trite with all his footnotes and whatnot. ALTHOUGH, since i judge books by their covers, what is the what looked admittedly intriguing.
You might enjoy this exclusive audio interview with LEGS McNEIL, in which he talks about his books, Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk and The Other Hollywood: The Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry ; and much, much more.
