i was just about to post that you should read the yiddish policemen's union until i saw these two comments, which made me very happy. also, dave eggers has a new book- actually, i think it came out a while ago- called what is the what. i suggest you read it.

dave eggers is not my preference, actually. too fucking trite with all his footnotes and whatnot. ALTHOUGH, since i judge books by their covers, what is the what looked admittedly intriguing.
