FYI!!!
Tomorrow, April 21st, Aaron Mendelson turns 20 years old. So if you see him be sure to give him a hug, a kiss, a pat on the back, or all three! He would like that.

Somewhat unrelated to the mission of our blog (if it indeed has one), but here's a link to a poem by a writer near and dear to my heart.

i've been on a major robyn hitchcock trip lately. this guy is amazing. his best albums i've come across so far are the soft boys' psych-punk classic underwater moonlight (robyn has been in/with about 15 different bands) and his recent one with the venus 3, olé tarantula, which is honestly really good.
his music’s always surreal (he’s really influenced by syd barrett) and at its best, it’s brilliant, beautiful stuff. also, good music for spring:
the soft boys--i wanna destroy you
robyn hitchcock and the venus 3--adventure rocket ship

these guys are so cool that they have never, ever even once smiled:
for some reason (maybe because it rules) this was my favorite song a while back. this version is even cooler than the one on "low-life"

What a delightful interview with WMCN's own Annie Berge in the Mac Weekly today. Despite what she says, Miss Berge deserves that paycheck!

here is belarus. (m4a)
new low came in the mail today. as far as i can tell, it's the same mix as the earlier leaks. but has the track "belarus," which has very pretty mimi vocals. i remember liking that song when they played it at first ave before christmas.
honestly, i do love the glitchy drum machines. i'll get the disc down to the station as sooon as i am able to emerge from my nest.
you have a mind that words like a skunk.

mp3: galaxie 500 : listen, the snow is falling
Guitarist Dean Wareham, drummer Damon Krukowski and bassist Naomi Yang began playing together during their time as students at Harvard University. In their early years, Krukowski didn't own a drum kit, so he borrowed one from his Harvard classmate Conan O'Brien, who'd bought a kit but had recently given up playing it. This drum kit can be heard on many of Galaxie 500's early recordings.
